Installing U-tip hair extensions, also known as keratin bond extensions, involves a few steps and requires some specific tools and products. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to install them:
U-tip hair extensions
Keratin bonding glue or a professional heating tool (like a keratin extension tool)
Sectioning clips
Comb
Hair scissors
Heat protectant spray (optional)
Protective gloves (optional)
A mirror for visibility
1.Preparation of Hair:
Start with clean, dry, and straightened hair. Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup.
Ensure your hair is completely dry before applying the extensions.
2.Sectioning the Hair:
Use a comb to part your hair horizontally from ear to ear, creating a top section and a bottom section. Clip the top section out of the way.
You can then take smaller sections from the lower part of your hair to apply the extensions.
3.Heating the Keratin:
If you are using a keratin bonding tool, plug it in and allow it to heat up according to the manufacturer's instructions.
If you’re using pre-bonded U-tips, you may not need to do anything extra other than prepare them for installation.
4.Applying the Extensions:
Take a small section of your natural hair (about the same width as the U-tip).
Position the U-tip extension directly under the natural hair section. Ensure that the U-tip is aligned well with the natural hair.
Use the heated tool to melt the keratin bond for about 5-10 seconds. Be careful not to overheat it, as this can damage your natural hair.
Once the keratin is melted, quickly pinch it with your fingers or a pair of pliers to secure the bond. Hold it until it cools down and hardens.
5.Continuing the Process:
Continue taking small sections of hair and applying the U-tip extensions, working your way up. Make sure to avoid placing the extensions too close to the scalp to prevent discomfort and allow for natural hair movement.
You can alternate the direction of the U-tips for a more natural look.
6.Finishing Touches:
Once all extensions are installed, check for any loose bonds and reheat them if necessary.
Blend the extensions with your natural hair using scissors or a razor to create a more seamless look.
Style your hair as desired.
